Description

A life worth living, doing real radiology:

Full Time Hybrid Procedural General Radiologist— Fairbanks, Alaska

Independent Private Practice | Local Partnership | Exceptional Compensation | Real Ownership

Radiology Consultants, Inc. is a stable, small, longstanding, independent, physician-owned radiology practice serving Fairbanks and Interior Alaska.

Listen, we know there are a lot of radiology jobs out there. We are looking for someone who wants to be more than a cog in a VC RVU generating machine.

This is a group where you get the rare gift of practicing all of procedural and diagnostic radiology, as well as bringing your unique talents to your work, knowing the clinicians and patients, taking care of the community, and having a genuine stake in the practice.

This is a highly functional and collaborative practice and I work with the best and smartest people I know. Most of us have been here our entire careers and none of us intend to have a different job.

Like many others, we were approached by Rad Partners. We said no. We believe that preserving a strong, independent, locally owned radiology group is better for us and more importantly for the community we serve.

As an independent practice, we control our schedule, compensation, staffing model, our PACS, technology, and future.

You will have 15 weeks completely off the first year. Of the remaining 37 working weeks, approximately 20 are in Fairbanks and 17 may be worked remotely. Overnight coverage is remote and limited to approximately six weeks annually. Weekend and holiday obligations are divided equally among the group.

Our compensation is not built on extreme productivity. Typical diagnostic volume is approximately 60 or fewer wRVU per 9-hour shift, and physicians are paid for shift coverage rather than individual RVU production.

WHAT PARTNERSHIP MEANS HERE

Security through ownership.

RCI partnership is valuable because it is truly a partnership. Our partners share the work, the difficult coverage, the decisions, the risks, and the rewards. We show up for one another when something goes wrong. We maintain the relationships with our hospital and medical community that make this practice possible.

As Partner:

Compensation has been in the $1M+ range depending on practice performance, with shared vacation, generally about 17 weeks, and evenly divided in-person, remote, procedural and call obligations, as well as nights, weekends and holidays.

There are no seniority tiers, preferred ownership classes, or legacy economics. Our newest partner has exactly the same earning potential as our longest-serving partner.

WHY FAIRBANKS?

Fairbanks is not a conventional place to live and work. You can practice sophisticated medicine in a regional hospital and where wilderness is not a destination — it is your home.

Some of the best cross country skiing in the country. Dogsledding. Fat tire biking. Hunting. Fishing. Paddling. Flying. Pack rafting rivers. Aurora chasing. Owning land. Having an airplane. Raising a family. Disappearing into the mountains for your weeks off.

And you don't have to spend your entire year in Fairbanks. Our model combines meaningful in-person presence with remote work and substantial time away.

And because we are a small independent practice, one good physician genuinely matters here.

THE PERSON WE WANT

You are clinically strong, adaptable, and comfortable practicing broadly. You value independence but understand that independence comes with responsibility.

You want real colleagues and friends rather than being a nameless assembly line worker. You are willing to come to Fairbanks part of the time and become part of the medical community.

And when the inevitable difficult week arrives, you are the kind of person who helps solve the problem rather than leaving it to somebody else to take care of.

In return, you get the same commitment from us.

We chose not to sell RCI because we believe this practice is worth protecting. And we're looking for physicians who want to own what comes next.

Only registered members can apply for jobs.
